Let me tell you something, the British seaside is bloody cold in early March. I don’t know why I didn’t think it would be, but rest assured it’s not really the weather for getting your kit off and standing round in a bikini. (Even if it is a very nice one).
I was very kindly sent this bikini from Hunkmoller, to review and I was truly hoping for a heatwave to hit little old England but it did not. So here I am in March, on a beach in the rain!
The beach in question is Runswick Bay in Yorkshire. I’ve never been before and wanted to see this little seaside town and even though it was raining and 2c I loved it.
Runswick Bay it’s self is very quiet. That may have had something to do with the weather and the fact it was not in peak season but also it’s location.
Nestled over the Yorkshire Moors you get a beautiful yet mildly terrifying drive. (Ok that may have been to do with the snow, I told you the weather was bad.) It is around an hour and a half drive from Leeds and less that 20miles from Whitby.
They say it is one of the pretties destinations in Yorkshire. It is a tiny village nestled in the cliffs, little cottages with red roofs add a pop a colour against the backdrop of the moors. There are winding streets and pathways that lead you between the cottages and courtyards. This gives you glimpse of the sea and a what feels like a look back in time.
It’s not a seaside town full of amusements and donkeys along the beach. It is however a hidden cove, where you can swim in the sea. There are even lifeguards on duty from 29th June – 1st September 2019. I went for a paddle but didn’t go much deeper than my waist. Even for an opener water swimmer it was a little cold for me.
The bikini though is excellent, it not only looks stylish but it’s practical. I mean it fits under my wetsuit really well too. Even though I didn’t swim here, I did do a few lengths in my local pool and I am a high waisted convert. The high neck I was expecting to be irritating but it was comfier then I expected. Actually so much so I left it on under my shirt all day. (Do you remember the cute shorts the sent me before?)
