Jord is pronounced Yode and is Swedish for “From Earth, Land or Soil’. Jord are best known for their cute wooden watches but they’re expanding into other materials such as leather and elements from nature. As well as a selection of bands for Apple watches. I choose the Jord watch band ‘Camel’ for the Apple Watch it is 20mm wide and 100% genuine leather. Out of the box a little firm but after a day of wearing the strap had softened and it sat lovely on my wrist.
Is it weird that I didn’t know what to do with my hand while taking a picture of my watch? I 100% will never make a hand model. What are you meant to do with your fingers?
I styled my watch strap with a collection of bracelets that I have had for a while but the wooden beads, seashells and gems sat perfectly and complimented the new band.
British Seaside
Can you tell we went to the beach? Seashell bracelets, rock pools and seaweed. It felt like the perfect combo. I love the British seaside. Fish and chips, 2p machines and rock shops. However I strongly dislike karaoke pubs and restaurants. 1pm in the afternoon is not the time for a dodgy rendition of Guns and Roses – Sweet Child of Mine.
There is something about sea air that resets everything. It doesn’t seem to matter how busy or quiet the beach is, there is often a sense of calmness. One that only comes from the sea. You leave full of salty sea air, your hair is a little matted and some how you have sand in your shoes even though you didn’t take you shoes off. Your fingers smell like the copper from the 2ps you put in the arcades, trying to win that piece of tat you could buy for 50p in the store down the road. But that’s not the fun.
Jord watches embodies that, wearing something on your wrist that comes from the Earth. No plastic straps. There wooden watches and bands (which I have my eye on) come from sustainable sources. Exotic woods left over from furniture making and some from naturally fallen trees. Every watch is one of a kind. No tree is the same and no piece of leather the same.
