A hotel kept popping up on my Instagram feed and I wasn’t sure if I should even lookup the cost. However here we are. A 3-night stay booked in the Luxurious instagramable Arctic Treehouse Hotel in Rovaniemi in the Arctic Circle.
After a bumpy 13-hour train journey from Helsinki to Rovaniemi which you can read about here, and a €25 taxi from the train station. We arrived at the hotel to be treated with a traditional Finnish hot drink and ginger biscuits while we checked in.
Once all checked in we were whisked to our room in one of the onsite mini buses. Given a phone number to whatsapp the front desk, if we needed a ride from the room back to reception/restaurant. It was a walkable distance but when the weather turns bad it is a little luxury.
Instagramable Hotel?
The hotel on a whole is beautiful and styled perfectly. The rooms vary, they all the huge glass fronts and a selection look out into the forest. However there are some rooms that look out onto the road, and over the other cabins. You are not guarenteed a forest view room.
We loved our room, cosy, modern and we spent hours just sat on the bed watching one of the first snow flurries of the season. There were plenty of plug sockets, a fancy coffee machine and a mini fridge (top tip – when in town pop to the supermarket for snacks, drinks and you can use the fridge.
The luxury element is the deep pile blankets, cozy duvet and lush rugs on the floor. You are though paying fot the huge window looking out (hopefully) into the forest. I am sure the views over the other rooms are also lovely, they appeared spaced out enough that you do get some view out of the window.
How much did it cost to sat in the Arctic Treehouse Hotel?
Yes, so here it is what everyone wants to know. Booking in the opening weeks of the winterseason, and direct with the hotel I paid
€256 / £218 / $270 per night
So it is not the cheapest place to stay however these rates were for the opening weeks, meaning there was less snow on the ground. This was the only thing I think of why there would be a reduction in price. It all depends if you are booking for the snowy winter wonderland vibes. The rooms normally range from €450+ if you keep an eye on the webiste you may stumble across a deal such as 2 nights for the price of 3 etc.
Is it worth staying at the Arctic Treehouse Hotel?
Yes and no. It is in my opinion expensive for a bed and breakfast rate. I paid for this myself, there was no compensation or discount. I wanted to stay here after seeing the numerous posts on instagram, and it lived up to the aesthetics. It was a georgous break away from the hustle and bustle of life, to stay in a cabin looking over the arctic forest. I do feel it was a one time thing, I wouldn’t go back, unless it was the depths of winter with a foot or 3 of snow. They are cozy and warm, decorated to be very instagram friendly and aesthically pleasing but are a glorified shipping containers at the end of the day.

We travelled via the sleeper train from Helsinki, arriving into Rovaniemi at 11am and then got a taxi to the hotel.
You can also fly straight into Rovaniemi during the winter season direct from many UK airports and hire a car or take a taxi to the hotel.
